I am Prince Nico. I'm in my early 30s, and there is a lady I am interested in marrying. I proposed to her but she told me she was not ready for a new relationship since her previous relationship didn’t go well. She has a son from that relationship. Since I also have a son from a previous relationship, I thought it will not be a problem. But painfully she turned me down. She doesn't also like my child. A few days ago she called to tell me, she turned down my proposal because there was another guy she was interested in. When she told the guy how she felt, the guy told her to give him some time since he was also interested in another lady. So she now wants us to give it a try. Please do I go with her? I really love her.
Dear Prince Nico,
Love is not enough. Respect and dignity is key to the success of any relationship. Whether it is the woman or the man, no one should be made to feel like a spare tire that is resorted to when the main tire fails. This woman is basically telling you, she loves someone better than you. She is giving you the chance because her first option failed. She feels you are an option that has no where to go.
Such a woman will make you always feel she did you a favour by dating you. You cannot make a mistake, you cannot have an opinion, you basically end up at her beck and call, because she will do well to remind you how she didn't even want to date you.
Love should not be one sided. Yes, you may not get a 50/50 balance, but at least the one you love must love you well enough for who you are, and not out of convenience. Don’t you think she is coming back to use you to while away time? She is the one in love with the man, not the other way round. She is the one being told to wait. If the other guy comes around to tell her he is ready for her, chances are that, she will give you stories and walk out.
Finally, remember, you cannot entrust your children to someone who doesn't like them. This is a lifetime commitment and everyone in it should feel a part of it. Your son must be accepted and loved and feel cared for in the home. If this woman is showing a dislike for him, then it is a sign she is not for you, and the child will not have a safe environment to grow up in.
Sir, find a woman who loves you for you, not because someone else turned her down.
I wish you luck
